The Geofencing feature on the Timerack mobile app enables employers to ensure that employees are at the expected location when punching in and out using a mobile device(s).
This article explains how to set up Geofencing for the Timerack mobile app.
Enable the Geofencing Feature
1) Click Settings in the top navigation menu and then select the Clock Management option on the left menu.
2) Select the Mobile In/Out option.
3) Mark the Use GeoFencing? checkbox. When the checkbox is marked, additional settings will be appear on the page. |  |
Add Locations
1) In Settings>Clock Management>Mobile In/Out, scroll down the page to the GeoFencing Locations section. |  |
2) Click the Add Locations button. |  |
| A pop-up window will appear. |  |
| 3) Enter a name for the location. |  |
| 4) Enter the street address. |  |
| 5) In the Radius in Feet field, enter the maximum distance away (measured in feet) from the address employees should be when they punch. |  |
| Zoom in on the location to view the radius entered and verify accuracy. |  |
| 6) Click the Done button to save. |  |
Additional Settings
Employers have the option to prevent employees from submitting mobile punches when they are not within the designated radius of an approved location. To enable this feature:
1) Click Settings in the top navigation menu and then select the Clock Management option on the left menu.
2) Select the Mobile In/Out option.
| 3) Mark the Block Punches Outside of GeoFencing Locations checkbox. |  |
4) Click the Save button below the list of locations.
If an employee is prevented from punching outside of the geofence, a pop-up message displays in the app when attempting to submit the punch. |  |
In cases where certain employees need the ability to submit punches while at a location that is not on the approved list, the portal setting Block Punches Outside of GeoFencing Locations can be overridden.
The option to allow punches outside of geofenced locations is found in the Clock section of each Employee Profile.
