Business Day Offset (BDO) Minutes are necessary when employees will be working overnight. When an employee is assigned to a Shift that crosses midnight (12:00AM), they punch in on one calendar day and punch out on the next calendar day. When this occurs, input is required so that Timerack knows that the In Punch and Out Punch should be paired.
The value entered for BDO Minutes identifies the time period before or after 12:00AM on the specified day that Timerack should look for a punch to pair and to which reporting day the hours should be allocated.
BDO Minutes can be entered as a positive or negative number. A negative BDO value (example: -600) will allocate an In Punch for the start of a night shift to the next reporting day. Example: If an employee punches in on Wednesday night and punches out on Thursday morning, the In Punch will be allocated to the Thursday reporting day. A positive BDO value (example: 600) will allocate an In Punch for the start of a night shift to the current reporting day. Example: If an employee punches in on Wednesday night and punches out on Thursday morning, the In Punch will be allocated to the Wednesday reporting day. Use the conversion chart to help determine the appropriate BDO Minutes value. |
